Getting to Waihi Beach is easy, it’s leaving that’s the hard part!

Located in the bountiful Western Bay of Plenty and gateway to the Coromandel, Waihi Beach is just 2 hours drive from Auckland, 1.5 hours from Hamilton and 50 minutes from Tauranga. Waihi Beach is a great place to base yourself for exploring east coast beaches.

From Waihi Beach journey north to visit Whangamata (40min), Tairua (1hr) and Hot Water Beach (1.5hrs). Travel south and you’ll be at Mount Maunganui (45mins) and Papamoa (50mins).

The nearby towns of Waihi (10mins) and Katikati (15mins) are closest for larger supermarket shopping and of course, more exploration of our beautiful area.

National bus services also service Katikati and Waihi townships from/to Tauranga, Auckland and Hamilton. A semi-regular bus service also travels from Waihi Beach to Tauranga via the Bayhopper service. View the timetable for this here.
