This historic house built in 1878 by Hugh & Adela Stewart is the only homestead of its kind left in the area which was part of the only planned Irish settlement in the world. Nestled in 2.5 hectares of picturesque countryside, it has spectacular views overlooking Tauranga Harbour and the ocean beyond.

In 1995 it was restored and is now open to the public  every Sunday January – March 12.00 – 4.00pm

The Historic Homestead & Station will be open on Sunday 21 April 12.00- 3.00 pm to celebrate Easter. The Station will be providing our famous Athenree Teas and we are holding an Easter Egg Hunt for the children around the grounds.

Parents/grandparents can relax and enjoy a homemade scone & cup of tea or coffee while the children hunt for easter eggs which will be hidden around the grounds.

Originally in Athenree Gorge, Athenree Railway Station now stands in the Homestead grounds. Fully restored it offers a lovely place to enjoy our famous Athenree Teas. It is also the perfect venue for your wedding or that special occasion.

Catering can be made available at the Station by prior arrangement and we can provide a directory of local businesses, all experts in this field.
