Waihi Beach Coastguard
Waihi Beach Coastguard is made up of a team of highly trained individuals who are all unpaid volunteers. Waihi Beach Coastguard is affiliated to Coastguard New Zealand and is a response unit for Coastguard Eastern Region.

Waihi Beach Surf and Life Saving Club
The aim of the Waihi Beach Lifeguard Service is to achieve excellence in beach rescue services and surf sports by continually developing the skills of our members and by promoting the role of the club in the community.

Waihi Arts Centre and Museum
The museum displays items of historical interest to the Waihi District, particularly items relating to the underground mining history. The gallery hosts regular exhibitions of local and visiting arts and craft. It's also used as an educational resource for schools.

Athenree Homestead
Athenree Historic Homestead was built in 1878 by Capt. Hugh and Adela Stewart, and is of local, national and international significance, as it was part of the only planned Irish settlement in the world…Ulster Plantation in Katikati.

The Homestead is being restored to its former glory by Athenree Homestead Trust and many volunteers. Visiting Hours.10.00am - 4pm . every 1st Sunday of the month except January and February where it is open every Sunday. $5 donation and all donations go to Stage 2 restoration project.
