Delicious, fresh salads made from local, seasonal ingredients.

At the Markets...
Salads are offered in pots (which generally serve two people as a side salad or one as a meal) at:

  • Waihi Beach Market, Sundays 9am-12md (until the end of April and then re-opening from Labour Weekend)
  • Katikati Produce Market, Fridays 4-6pm (all year round)

The menu of salads at the markets is posted on facebook on Thursday evening.

I also serve soups during the winter months and patés, dips and preserves to take advantage of seasonal harvests.

If you are a Waihi Beach customer and cannot get to the Katikati market during the winter months, I am happy to deliver orders to you.

Catering
Take the hassle out of your entertaining with freshly prepared salads – ideal for big groups, al fresco eating or BBQs. Catering salads (please see our extensive menu of 30+ salads) are available at 48-hours notice and can be delivered to your home in pretty bowls, all ready to serve.

Most salads are gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian or vegan.

 

About The Salad Lady
Many local customers enjoyed trying new salad flavours when I was the owner of Farm Gate Deli, and as salad making is one of my food passions I started a trial of ‘The Salad Lady’ in January 2017. Feedback has been wonderful and so ‘The Salad Lady’ is here to stay - but I am determined to remain small and local to maintain the quality and integrity of my products.

My food is made with care using traditional methods (I make my own mayonnaise, soup stocks, brine olives etc) which results in superlative taste and quality of the finished product. Fresh ingredients are sourced from local growers. I only use free range eggs and imported grains are from organically certified crops where possible.

My passion for local seasonal produce comes from my time with Darina Allen at the Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland and my salad inspiration comes from Middle Eastern or European cultures, my salad hero being Yotam Ottolenghi, an Israeli chef who has had a huge influence on fresh food culture in London and beyond.
